Shaun & Kathryn at Kronenburg Estate, Paarl

Saturday, September 26th, 2009

Kathryn and Shaun booked me a year and a half ago, and I just can’t believe how quickly the time has flown!  They had been meticulously planning their big day for so long, and Kathryn and I kept in touch on email.   I am probably one of the few photographers that don’t get put off by rain. I love the rain – and along with the rain came the most stunning gray clouds and the most perfect light.  It was one of those weddings where just everything was cool – black and white Baroque theme for the decor,  excited bridesmaids that totally fussed around the bride, a dress to die for,   ‘Audrey Hepburn-esque’ bride, and a doting groom.  It was as if the day unfolded like a movie, and moments were just happening the whole day and I, of course, was in photographers heaven!  “Adamant Soundz” (adamobile@mweb.co.za) kicked off the music for the evening and had everyone on the dance floor!  Flowerheart created the most stunning flower displays using white roses.

Shaun and Kathryn – you were both such troopers in the rain, and I had a blast being your photographer!

On the other side of the lens! Portrait shoot by Christine Meintjes

Monday, September 21st, 2009

Tuesday last week, fellow photographer and friend, Christine Meintjes photographed me in Greenpoint and interviewed me for her blog.  It was such a cool experience being on the other side of the lens, and such a privilege to be photographed by such a talented, awesome photographer.  Christine, Jules (also a super cool photographer!) and I meet on a regular basis for girlie catch-ups and lunch.  During the afternoons spent together we catch up on life, the shoots we’ve done and swop ‘note’s’…and always have such a good laugh!  I value these times with them both so much, and get so excited when I see new blog updates from them, and see how their work is just growing and becoming more and more amazing.  They are two both incredibly wonderful photographers who are so ‘open’ to life and photography.  I really do believe that the more we give of ourselves and the more open we are to others, the more we get back.  It’s the law of the Universe.  Here are a few of Christine’s photo’s of me from the day!

When Heike from the Wedding Guide magazine approached me and asked me to write an article and supply a selection of wedding photo’s for their latest edition,  I was thrilled!  I have advertised and shot for this charming magazine over the past three years because it is jam-packed with exciting and up-to-date info for both the bride and groom.  Anything and everything to do with weddings can be found in this gem of a magazine!

Back in Cape Town and ready for Wedding Season!

Friday, September 4th, 2009

My four week holiday to London and Egypt turned into a five week holiday.  I just couldn’t bring myself to leave so I extended my ticket.  I sometimes feel like i’m leading a double life – I have my family, friends and life in Cape Town, but I have the same in London.  Having spent almost sixteen years living in London since my late teens, I still have so many friends over there.  When I arrive, it’s like i’ve never been away, and I slip into life as if I belong there.  Sometimes, I still feel like I do belong there,  and wish I could live in both places.  So for now, I feel incredibly lucky to live in CT, and be able to travel and shoot in London every summer.  This time around,  I spent quality time with friends and family, and less time in front of the computer editing – hence the late blog entries!  So now, I have lots of catching up to do before the Cape Town wedding season starts!

Mia & Jack in Waltham Abbey, England

Tuesday, September 1st, 2009

I met Lesley in the early ’90’s when I was living on a Kibbutz in Israel, and we’ve built up a ROCKING friendship!  Every year when I visit her in the UK I photograph her daughter Mia and son Jack…and every  year Mia’s  precious little fountain of hair grows more and more curly.

Jack is hilarious!  I asked him to show me his teeth, and he couldn’t do this without scrunching up his eyes!
