Cape Town Wedding | Monika & Ronan’s Palmiet Wedding | Part One

Tuesday, January 24th, 2012

My last wedding of 2012 was organised to perfection by Kate Rawbone at WEDDING CONCEPTS!  I love working with Wedding Concepts, because it means the entire day is planned out meticulously to schedule, and I get directed where to be next!  Easy as pie! There were a lot of laughs during the getting ready, while the lovely bridemaid’s fussed over Monika.  Special thanks to the super talented Charlene Shreuder who 2nd shot with me – I love her photos of the guys getting ready.

Monika & Ronan had their ceremony under the shady oak trees at Palmiet Valley Estate in Paarl, on one of the hottest days of summer.  Keep a look-out for part two which will be up later today!

Cape Town Wedding | Monika & Ronan’s Palmiet Valley Estate Wedding | Part Two

Tuesday, January 24th, 2012

If you haven’t already seen part one, click here. Following Monika & Ronan’s stunning ceremony under the oak trees, they headed off to sign the register.  Drinks and canapes followed on the sundeck overlooking the mountains and vineyard.  The sounds of  Jeremy Loop’s folk band filled the air and was the perfect entertainment for an afternoon in the sun.  A highlight of the day was when Ronan took to the mike and sang for Monika. Everyone was in hysterics as a distortion unit was attached to the mike, and what came out of the mike was not quite Ronan’s voice!  Thanks Monika & Ronan for booking me to shoot your wedding – I can’t wait for you to see the rest of your photos!

Cape Town Wedding | Sally & Leighton | Vrede-en-Lust | Franschhoek

Friday, November 11th, 2011

When Sally, a former Air Hostess, contacted me to photograph her and Leighton’s wedding, she said she had chosen me because of the boudoir shoot I did on an aeroplane several months ago….!  I haven’t photographed a wedding at Vrede-en-Lust in a while, so I was happy to get a chance to do their intimate wedding.  Family and friends flew in from the UK and USA to celebrate the day with them.  Weddings don’t always have to follow the traditional route: They first met guests on the lawn for drinks, followed by the couple shoot, speeches, ceremony and reception.  It made for a super relaxed day where they could enjoy the wedding and fantastic weather with everyone.

Featured on “CAP CLASSIQUE” Wedding Blog in London | United Kingdom

Friday, November 4th, 2011

Cap Classique is one of my all time favourite wedding blogs.  When Gaby very kindly decided to feature the wedding of Clive and Louise, I was thrilled.  As Gaby sums up her blog: “Cap Classique came from having seen many of my friends over here struggle to find information on the net to help plan their weddings at home, and also a desire to promote South African venues and suppliers, which I think are some of the best in the world! I’m passionate about the Cape, and very proudly South African.”

Cape Town Wedding | Helena and Andrew | Mont Rochelle, Franschhoek

Monday, October 17th, 2011

Helena and Andrew are from New Zealand and chose Franschhoek to celebrate their very intimate wedding.  No guests, just the 2 of them committing their love to each other under some beautiful trees and amongst the stunning backdrop of the mountains.  The lovely Kate Rawbone from Wedding Concepts organised all the finer details for them.  With Wedding Concepts, I always know: No. 1 -  The wedding is going to be organised to perfection and No.2 – The venue and details are going to pretty special. Franschhoek really is one of South Africa’s gems and having the chance to shoot at Mont Rochelle was breathtaking.  Thanks Helena and Andrew for being so relaxed – I had a great time with you both. Hopefully see you in NZ next February if all goes to plan!

Michelle & Simon’s Wedding Part two | London

Friday, September 23rd, 2011

If you missed part one, click here!  Following their beautiful ceremony in Teddington, the guests were driven down to the Tamesis Yacht club.  Michelle, Simon, and some of their bridal party walked down to the Thames River, where a boat was waiting to take them to their reception along the river.  The guests had no idea the bridal party would be arriving in a boat, and so were met by cameras and raised champagne glasses. This was such a novel way to make an appearance!   Drinks and canapes were enjoyed on the lawn and then the three of us slipped away do some photos.  The reception kicked off with speeches followed by everyone drinking a toast with sambuca, and then dancing the night away.  Michelle and Simon – thank you! Your wedding was a blast!

Michelle & Simon’s Wedding Part One | London

Tuesday, September 20th, 2011

Michelle and I met at college in London when we were studying photography together.  When I moved back to South Africa in 2005, we stayed in touch on Facebook.  When Michelle asked me to photograph her and Simon’s wedding, I must admit, I was psyched to shoot another wedding in London and catch up with her again. The getting ready prep took place at their home in Teddington and then it was just a short drive to the beautiful stone church.  Keep a look out for part two which I’ll be uploading soon – the reception was held along the Thames River – something completely different and pretty unforgettable!
