Keith & Tania – Engagement photoshoot, Brick Lane, London

Monday, September 6th, 2010

In August when I was in London,  I arranged to do an engagement shoot for Tania and Keith.  It was a week before their wedding, so the excitement was rising  – them for their wedding and me for being given the opportunity to shoot in one of my favourite places in the world: SCOTLAND!  We met up at Liverpool street station in London’s East End for a cuppa and then headed out to the buzzing market area around the famous Brick Lane.  The weather was amazing and Brick Lane was packed with people from all walks of life – which is why I love London so much: It is a diverse melting pot of cultures.  Keith is Scottish and Tania is Australian and they both live in London.  We ended up spending close to 4 hours out on our shoot as we were having so much fun – stopped for a drink at a funky pub and then carried on shooting.  It was hard to get a bad shot of them – they are both so in love and the smiles (and kisses) were flowing all day! Keep a look-out over the next week on my blog for their wedding in Scotland!

As you can see I love working with movement….and LOVE photographing shoes ( but not wearing them)

Keith and Tania – from your facebook updates I see you’re having a fantastic honeymoon! Enjoy these…a little taster before I post the wedding shots.xxx

Out and about in London

Wednesday, August 19th, 2009

London holds a special place in my heart.  Now that I no longer live there, I love going over in the summer to catch up with friends, and do a bit of shooting (and shopping!).  I love the energy of the city, the melting pot of nationalities, and never running out of things to see and do.  I feel like a kid in a candy store!  I had just been to see the Rankin exhibition on Brick Lane with a few photographers, and we decided to end it off with a drink at a little cafe.  I spotted a young woman with red lips and red hair, sitting on a red leather chair, with an interesting mural on the wall behind her.  I asked her if she would mind if I took a few photo’s of her, as she looked like she fitted into the scenery so well.  We got chatting and she said she’s from JHB, and is now living in London, and that she always sits in the same red chair and reads a bit there everyday before heading off to work.  Thanks Jessica – you look like a porcelain doll sitting in that chair!

Penny & Rob’s Maternity shoot in London

Monday, August 17th, 2009

My super cool cousin Robbie lives in London with his super cool wife, Penny. (I had to say that, otherwise he’d feel left out!)  I wanted to do a maternity shoot for them as a gift, as I don’t get to see them often.  Their baby is due any moment now – I was hoping their daughter Pippa would be born before I left London, but no such luck!  We headed off to a park near their house  just before sunset, then went out for Thai afterwards.  I was dreaming of Pad Thai before the shoot, so had to keep focussed!

Anna & Jonno at Clouds Estate, Stellenbosch

Wednesday, April 8th, 2009

I met Anna and Jonno in London last year during the summer.  They were both so excited about getting married at Clouds Estate in South Africa, especially since the wedding was going to be so intimate, with just close family and friends.  The high-light of the wedding was when the Itheko African dancers appeared to the beat of the drums, to the delight of all the guests.
