The day after….

Friday, June 12th, 2009

Last night was the opening of  ‘I Am Cuba’ photography exhibition in Woodstock.  The turn- out was incredible!  Thanks to all of you who came to see five very different photographers interpretations of Cuba.  The wine and the Lindt chocolate flowed and the evening was an absolute blast.   It was a double celebration day as it was my brother Gareth’s 30th birthday – although he was celebrating in another city.

I am Cuba – Photography Exhibition

A year ago to the month, my friend Jules and I went to Cuba on a little adventure.  From the minute we arrived to when it was time to leave, we spent weeks just shooting, sometimes not saying a word to one another for hours…totally caught up in the magic.  Having seen Jules’ cool shots from her trip down Africa, I just new we’d be great travel buddies – happy to rough it and just completely get down to the simplicity of life.   I love getting out of my comfort zone!  It’s great for the mind and a little ‘re-focus’ can put so many life issues and dreams into perspective.

Jules, myself (and three photographers we’ve not yet met), are having a joint exhibition at EXPOSURE gallery at the Old Biscuit Mill.  As it’s Cuba’s 50th Anniversary, we thought it would be a great idea to exhibit a small selection of our images.  See below for more details!  Be great to have you all there!

Studio22 very kindly did all the beautiful printing and framing for us – thanks Kurt!  and thanks to Lindt for sponsoring some delectable chocolates!

Maternity shoot in Havana, Cuba

Tuesday, June 17th, 2008

When Jules and I went over to Cuba to last year on a shooting adventure we thought it would be cool to do a maternity photoshoot on our last day in Havana.  Cuba is one of the most colourful and beautifully decaying countries I’ve ever had the privilege of visiting.  We got up early and ventured out to the streets before the city woke up, and had a lot of fun with the colourful walls and funky cadillacs.
