Joanne & Ken | Couple Shoot | Cape Town & Blouberg

Thursday, December 8th, 2011

Joanne and Ken flew into South Africa from Hong Kong to have a pre-wedding couple shoot done with me.  They wanted some variety to their images – so we started off in the Gardens in Cape Town, moved onto Long Street and ended on Blouberg Beach.  To say Blouberg was windy is an understatement!  It was blowing gale force winds, but in hindsight I love the movement on Joanne’s dress which added to the magic.  Joanne and Ken thank you for being so enthusiastic on the day and for keeping a smile despite the chilly wind.  I hope to see you both again someday.

Marni Bezuidenhout did Joanne’s make-up  – and Ida Webster did her hair.

Jacqui & Neil’s engagement shoot, St James

Tuesday, April 5th, 2011

Jacqui and Neil came over to Cape Town from the UK about two weeks ago and we did a fun engagement photoshoot  in St James in the early evening.    I highly recommend couples to get an engagement shoot done before they get married – it means both the couple and photographer know each other a bit better and the wedding day is more chilled out.  Jax and Neil are sooooooooo in love, I barely had to give any direction in the photoshoot, they just kissed and cuddled all the time which was GREAT! and I just clicked away!!  How cute are they???

Keep an eye out on my blog for their wedding photo’s which i’ll be posting in about a week!  It’s going to be a bumper blog!!!  I’ll be over in Ireland in July and England in August if any of Jacqui or Neil’s friends would like an engagement, wedding, maternity…..or boudoir photoshoot done!xxx

Kath & Shaun’s couple shoot, Kalk Bay

Sunday, October 3rd, 2010

A year ago almost to the day, I photographed Kath and Shaun’s wedding at Kronenburg Estate.  This year, Kath decided to surprise Shaun with a couple shoot for their 1 year anniversary – so I was thrilled to have the opportunity to: 1. photograph them again and 2. catch up and hang out with them.

We started off at Cape To Cuba restaurant in Kalk Bay, then walked through some colourful side streets.  Kalk Bay is one of my favourite haunts in Cape Town – it has a quaint feel and is dotted with antique shops and knick knaks from the 60’s.  It also has one of the best ice-cream shops – “The Ice Cafe” which has some of the most delicious and whackiest flavours.  We headed to do some shots in the sand, stopped for fish and chips at the famous Kalky’s at the harbour….and then headed to shoot some more.  During our last half hour of the shoot we were luring the seagulls closer and throwing left over chips for them (i wanted to get some movement shots in) when Shaun says “I hope a seagull doesn’t crap on my head”….and moments later, it did!  We fell about the place laughing (except Shaun of course).  He wasn’t convinced that would bring him good luck!

Kath is an aspiring photographer and what i’ve seen of her work already, is beautiful!  So keep a look out in the future for Kathryn van Eck Photography – She is going to rock Cape Town!

Tash & Rob, Beach shoot

Monday, February 15th, 2010

I’ve known Tash several years now, and she’s become a very good friend.  I first met Rob on the morning of the shoot at Eden On The Bay near Blaauwberg Beach and was fascinated to see so many tattoos.  Tash had told me she was seeing this amazing guy who is a tattoo artist and owner of his own tattoo parlour, I just didn’t think that he’d have that many!  He was practically covered everywhere in tattoo’s, the detail of each piece was a work of art. We found a deserted area on Blaauwberg beach and did some intimate shot’s. I love the contrast of Rob’s tattooed body against Tash’s skin.  The shoot was a valentines gift to Rob.
